Our team shared some insight into the process and their inspiration in creating such a beautifully finished home within a modest budget, something homeowners are often seeking. Q: What was the overall inspiration for this renovation? A: The popular modern bohemian style. Q: How do you decide which style to apply to the home? A: It’s important to decide what feeling you want to create when customers enter the model home. We look for inspiration in a piece of furniture, or a colour, to define a style that works within the home’s layout. Q: When designing an entire home, what’s the first element you choose? A: The colour scheme, which sets the tone for the rest of the design. Q: What is the atmosphere you intended to create through this design? A: Open, spacious, bright, and fresh, yet also warm cozy – a contrasting idea, yet one that modern bohemian style accomplishes very effectively. Q: Do you have a favourite element of the Riverstone renovation? A: Chic gold cabinetry hardware and light fixtures, lush and diverse textures, and the beautiful colour combinations following a trend to warmer tones. The warmer colours were brought in as clever accents, using throw pillows, select pieces of furniture, and a stunning feature wall. Against the light, calming background, these elements created a sense of warmth and welcome, anchoring the design. Texture played a big part as well, adding subtle visual appeal through variety. Between warm wood grain, leather, and velvet, and cool sleek countertops, bathroom tile, and gold fixtures, there is a harmony built through the careful balance of these materials. Woven window treatments, a throw rug, and a jute ottoman also add a textural touchstone throughout the house, subtly connecting the design without overwhelming. Together, these elements all came together to create a cohesive expression of the eclectic bohemian style, with a fresh modern feel for a uniquely welcoming interior that feels like home. On the outside, our standard exterior finishes create a neutral but welcoming feel to this bungalow’s stylish curb appeal.
